Second sites

Second sites re-explores other modernist issues, problems concerning the edge of a work, the nature of a field and the relation of colour paint work to the three dimensions. In the landscape series of the early eighties the edge of the corrugated iron was the edge of the work. It was one with its supporting-wall as a sculpture/painting.

…..mountain scenery conveys uplifting visions – so convincingly that we almost miss half the point; the spiritual distance the stuff in front of us has travelled. She uses mainly corrugated iron, least lovable of industrial products. With it she sings to us of space, air and light. But she stops short of illusionism, leaving her work on the frontier between base material fact and representation.
